Michael Päßler ha 24 anni ed è originario di Annaberg-Buchholz in Sassonia, Germania. Studia Interactive Media Design e inizierà molto presto il suo tirocinio semestrale ad Amburgo. L’anno scorso ha passato un semestre all’estero, alla California State University a East Bay sulla costa occidentale degli Stati Uniti.
Questi 10 scatti sono stati scelti tra tutti quelli fatti in quei luoghi. Da alcuni anni a questa parte Michael usa esclusivamente macchine analogiche. Dice che una delle ragioni è il “potere espressivo” che una foto analogica può avere. Michael dice anche che il suo approccio non è “scatta e via”: “Usando una macchina analogica, impari molto sulle origini della fotografia, sulla tecnica che devi conoscere ma anche sugli effetti che un certo motivo può avere.”
Michael Päßler is 24 years old and from Annaberg-Buchholz in Saxony, Germany. He studies Interactive Media Design and will start his required internship term in Hamburg very soon. The year before last he did a term abroad at California State University in East Bay on the west coast of the United States.
These ten selected pictures were partly taken there. For a few years now Michael has only been using analogue cameras. He says one reason for this is the “expressive power” an analogue picture can have. Michael also says that he doesn’t just “snap away”: “Using an analogue camera, you learn a lot about the origins of photography, about the technology you are required to know but also about the effects a certain motive can have.
